Transfer of the eastern section of the Uganda Protectorate

Infrastructural developments including railways and roads were essential to the process of colonial economic extraction. The merging of territories based on these developments reflected the arbritrary redrawing of the political map to suit colonial interests.

The Ugandan railway began construction in 1896. In 1902, the eastern part of Uganda between Lake Naivasha and Mt. Elgon became part of the East African Protectorate placing the Ugandan Railway under one colonial administration.
