Mohammed ibn Abdullah leads an uprising in British Somaliland
European expansion in East Africa and the redrawing of the political map in the Horn of Africa led to the Mahdist War as well as Mohammed ibn Abdullah’s Dervish Movement across present day Somalia, Somaliland, and Ethiopia. The Dervish Movement was a religious and political effort to remove the British and Italian presence in the region.
