First Gurudwara in Britain

Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala provided funds of £8,000 for Britain’s first Gurudwara founded by the Khalsa Jatha organisation in Putney, London.

The Maharaja was on tour with the Indian cricket team when Sikh students spoke to him of a need for a place of worship in London.
