Bunyoro and Busoga chiefs demand mailo system

The Mailo system was a form of land tenure that was established in Buganda in 1900. It conferred land on Bugandan chiefs in parcels of square mile plots (mailo).

Bunyoro and Busoga chiefs also wanted the lucrative mailo system in their own territories but this was denied by the British.
