Ankole Agreement

The Ankole chiefs observed developments in Buganda and Toro and saw the benefits of establishing a similar system under British protection.

They lobbied the British to draw up a consonant agreement and made the case that they were also united under their ruler and as such represented a politically coherent territory worthy of the same treatment as their Baganda and Toro neighbours.
